I try to blog about usability now and then. Sometimes it ends up being more venting about whatever it is I'm working on that day, but today I had someone post a comment asking me for more info on usability, so I posted my "What is Usability" presentation. For those of us who are usability practitioners, it's pretty basic, but when you need something for one of your colleagues that don't know much about usability… Continue

Collaborative Usability Inspection

I read an article on the technique called Collaborative Usability Insepction (CUI) or Usability Peer Review. It's pretty much a low cost, quick usability inspection done by users, developler, UX specialist at the end of the day on the UI development, especially in Agile environment.

What do YOU think ... should we dismiss this research?

Some of you may know that Susan Weinschenk is writing a book as a

(sorta) companion for the PET course. Its gonna be called: Neuro Web

Design: What Makes Them Click and should land sometime early 2009.

Her first post talks about how the Kitty Genovese story ... and how it

is possibly an urban legend. Remember the story from your Psych 101

course? A woman was severely beaten in a very public place in NYC ...

there were a substantial number of onlookers ...… Continue

Literacy 2.0

There was a recent NY Times article on reading and literacy that sparked a bit of discussion amongst some of us HFI'ers:

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/07/27/books/27reading.html?_r=2&hp&oref=slogin&oref=slogin

The basic discussion was about how kids "read" differently than older folks. Older folks who grew up with books and newspapers consider "reading" to be about those same things - books, etc. The current educational system is still largely geared toward that… Continue
